Supporting Local Animal Welfare Organizations The Foundation’s goals since inception was to donate annually or bi-annually about 1/3 of its fund raising and retain 2/3 of the fundraising to create a long term investment, the income from which will be used to support animal welfare organizations in the future and to keep the memory of Keri Chase alive. The Foundation recently underwent an audit by the Charities Directorate of Canada Revenue Agency. As a result of that audit, effective October 2011, according to the terms of the charitable registration granted to our Foundation, our charity can only carry out our charitable purposes in two ways.
As we do not have, and never had, the volunteer base or resources to carry on active care of animals, we choose to financially support those organizations that do. It does not matter the source of our income (donations, calendar sales, print sales etc.), financial assistance must be to a qualified donee. To December 16, 2010, the Foundation has directly supported the following organizations with cash contributions.
