St. Paul's Anglican Church "Blessing of the Animals"

At 7:00PM on October 6, 2009, St. Paul's Anglican Church held their "Blessing of the Animals".  As the service was getting underway, the power went out in Thunder Bay putting 24,000 households in darkness, including St. Paul's Anglican Church.  The service was then conducted with candles being handed out to all of the parishioners.  It was a unique setting under these circumstances.

The service was attended by many cats and dogs, with a mule and a lamb in attendance, along with their owners.  All the animals received an individual blessing along with a certificate, a treat and a toy.  The certificates were:

The entire service was dedicated to Sophie, an English Springer Spaniel owned by The Right Reverend Dr. Stephen Andrews, Bishop of Algoma.  Sophie recently passed away and is sorely missed.  The collections of the evening will be donated to the Foundation.

The following appeared on the October 7, 2009 front page of the Chronicle Journal.

The Foundation extends its sincere appreciation to St. Paul's Anglican Church and particularly:
